Study on Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) in Self Help Groups (SHG)

The Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) are one of the major issues in the banking sector. When the Self-Help Group (SHG) movement started in 1990s, the strength of the movement was almost zero NPAs in spite of loans being collateral free. This encouraged the bankers to extend credit through group mode based on social collateral.
